Counselling in Cupar, Fife
Confidential space
In counselling you can share experiences, thoughts and feelings that you might be afraid to discuss with friends or family without fear of judgement, in a completely confidential setting. I work with a supervisor who supports me in my practice and ensures I am working within the strictest ethical boundaries. In a world that is increasingly polarised around issues of politics, identity and ideology, I offer a non-judgemental, open-minded and respectful space for you to share your concerns.
Holistic approach
My counselling approach is a synthesis of psychodynamic, mindfulness and somatic (body-oriented) principles. Psychodynamic therapy emphasises how our past experiences may be affecting us in the present. The psychodynamic approach is a way of looking under the surface of what is happening and not taking things totally at face value. This means that distressing symptoms such as depression, panic attacks or at times even physical complaints have meaning. I see part of my work as helping you the client to decode and explore those messages.
Respectful collaboration
A significant factor in successful therapy is your own engagement with, and commitment to the process. Another crucial factor is that you need to feel safe with the therapist you choose to work with and that they are a good psychological “fit” for you. My approach is flexible and creative with the aim of finding the best way of working with you as a unique individual.
